Hi there! My name is Emmanouil Georgios (Akis) Lionis, currently pursuing an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam. During my studies, I have worked on various projects in the Information Retrieval (IR) community. Currently, I am conducting my thesis as part of an internship at TKH Group and participating in the ELLIS honor program, under the supervision of PhD Dylan Ju, Angelos Nalmpantis, Sean MacAvaney and Dr. Andrew Yates. My interests lie in neural information retrieval, recommendation systems, and natural language processing.

Beyond my MSc, I participated in the European Summer School on Information Retrieval (ESSIR) during the Jul 2024. I earned my BSc in Computer Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in July 2023. My undergraduate thesis, titled “Creating Ontology with the Help of a ChatBot,” was completed under the supervision of Doc Eleni Tsalapati and Prof. Manolis Koubarakis.

Alongside my studies, I have also gained experience working in the industry. I worked as a Computer Engineer at Twiki, where I served as an API designer and backend engineer, contributing to the development and optimization of the company’s backend processes. Prior to that, I worked as a Data Assurance specialist at Optasia, where I focused on analyzing data integrity and completeness to uphold high-quality data standards.
